Hold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family #1) by Tiffany Schmidt

Book Summery (Via Goodreads): Penelope Landlow has grown up with the knowledge that almost anything can be bought or sold—including body parts. She’s the daughter of one of the three crime families that control the black market for organ transplants.
Penelope’s surrounded by all the suffocating privilege and protection her family can provide, but they can't protect her from the autoimmune disorder that causes her to bruise so easily.
And in her family's line of work no one can be safe forever.
All Penelope has ever wanted is freedom and independence. But when she’s caught in the crossfire as rival families scramble for prominence, she learns that her wishes come with casualties, that betrayal hurts worse than bruises, that love is a risk worth taking . . . and maybe she’s not as fragile as everyone thinks.

Book Review:
What was I expecting when I first picked up Hold Me Like A Breath? A little action, and a little romance. What I got was a whole lot more. This fast-paced thriller kept me up during the night, trying to figure out what exactly was happening and trying to anticipate what would happen next. Let me start with the setting. You have a dangerous mob family that doles out human organs in the black market. On the other hand, you have Penelope, who is treated daintily, like fragile glass. Right off the bat, the reader can tell things aren't what they seem, but any attempt to strip back the layers leads to more questions and bigger puzzles. Things fall apart, and it's up to Penelope to put back the pieces...but can she while maintaining all of the lovable qualities that make her her? If you're looking for book that is action-packed, fast-paced, and mysterious, look no further. I definitely plan to read more of Schmidt's work. I seriously can't believe I didn't know of her sooner!
