Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

Book Summery (Via Goodreads): It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

Book Review:
I had finished reading several sci-fi and fantasy books in a row and needed a break. That is just what this book provided. A whimsical romantic tale with a beautiful London setting. What more could a girl ask for? I really enjoyed the main character Julia. She was easy to relate to. In fact, I often found myself recalling my ol' high school days while reading this book. I was a lot like Julia. Focused on school and reading, not really attentive to my peers, as I was often wrapped up in homework, extracurriculars, etc...This book made me think a lot about the people that I ignored. Perhaps if I had read this back in the day, I might have opened up a bit more. Anyways, I'm getting off track here. This is a wonderful jaunt through London, with a slow-building romantic tale. Great if you are looking for something on the lighter side!

Favorite Quote:
“They do have these things called bookstores there. I've heard tell that if you give them money, they let you leave with a book.”

Cover Art Commentary:
I love this cover!!! It caught my eye immediately! I love the colors in the background against the London skyline! Just adorable!

  1. Cool review... it's cool when books make you think about your own life. I liked this book too for a super quick fun book. I LOVED the London setting and think that just made the whole book. Julia was OK, but the thing between her and Jason was cute!
