1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I loved the book! I also adored the movie movie! Sure there were some discrepancies between the two, but really shouldn't we expect that by now? I have the soundtrack and every time I listen to it, it makes me want to watch the movie again!
2. White Oleander by Janet Finch

I actually saw the movie first. Of course, the book was better. However, the script was true to the novel, they just left out some of the storyline from the book. This was my first movie in which I really appreciated Michelle Pfeiffer's acting!.bmp)

I got chills when reading the book and watching the movie. The Shining is Stephen King's best work in my honest opinion. I can't watch any other movie with Jack Nicholson without getting creeped out!.bmp)
4. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

So I'll admit, I only made it through the second book in the series. This is a prime example of a TV series that is much more successful than the book series. Sad, but true.

This is another case in which I saw the movie before reading the book. I really did spoil the book for myself. The movie stays true to the book. I really need to watch this again...it's so good!.bmp)

I have yet to make it through ALL of the Vampire Chronicles...and let's face it, it will probably never happen. This is another example of where the movie surpasses the book. Probably one of my favorite vampire movies of all time!.bmp)

Sooooo...I've only made it partially through the first book in the Fire and Ice series. I would like to say that I'll make it through the entire series, but I'm not sure that is an honest statement. I WILL say that I really enjoy the HBO series. A LOT. That, I will continue to watch!

DeleteAgree about Gatsby - who says you can't love a book and a movie equally? Annoyed me that people were so quick to make comparisons and not just enjoy the movie for what it was - a lavish spectacle.

DeleteI really like The Shining - I haven't read the book, but the film was excellent. (The twins always creep me out, though!) I haven't seen Gatsby, but I like the book so hopefully I'll get to see it at some point!

DeleteI haven't seen Gatsby or read the book but I really need to!! I love Leo but I'm not a fan of Shutter Island. LOVE LOVE LOVE The Shining! Haven't read the book though!

DeleteShutter Island was so freaky! I remember sitting in the theatres and almost crying because it was so scary and creepy and ugh. Haha GAME OF THRONES forever. That show just blows me away. So phenomenal.

DeleteI love The Help (both the book and the movie) and the new Great Gatsby movie is really good! Much better than the Robert Redford/Mia Farrow version. I've only read the first PLL book myself, but I do watch the show. (Which is weird for me, since I'm usually adamant about reading the books first!)

DeleteI LOVE this list! I used to watch Pretty Little Liars all the time, but never read the books. I think I need to start watching it again because I miss it! I also love GOT. I need to reread the Great Gatsby because I read it in high school and wasn't a huge fan - but its probably because we were forced to read and analyze everything said. I really want to see this movie sometime. !

DeleteGreat list, I love Game of Thrones. I also love White Oleander because even though the book is much better it still captures the spirit of the book really well and was well done. I love Pretty Little Liars tv series but haven't read the books yet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Queen of the Damned (even though I loved the book). But I am thrilled that you added Practical Magic. Even with the changes, I really thought they captured the sisters. GREAT list.

I actually haven't seen any of these movies... or read any of the books except for Gatsby... =S *hides* I really really want to see that movie though! It looks exceptional.

Great list! I agree that PPL is a much better TV show than book series. And I should see the White Oleander movie. I enjoyed the book, but I read it a long time ago so I don't remember much.
