Geek Girl (Geek Girl #1) by Holly Smale

Book Summery (Via Goodreads): Harriet Manners knows a lot of things.
She knows that a cat has 32 muscles in each ear, a "jiffy" lasts 1/100th of a second, and the average person laughs 15 times per day. What she isn't quite so sure about is why nobody at school seems to like her very much. So when she's spotted by a top model agent, Harriet grabs the chance to reinvent herself. Even if it means stealing her Best Friend's dream, incurring the wrath of her arch enemy Alexa, and repeatedly humiliating herself in front of the impossibly handsome supermodel Nick. Even if it means lying to the people she loves.
As Harriet veers from one couture disaster to the next with the help of her overly enthusiastic father and her uber-geeky stalker, Toby, she begins to realise that the world of fashion doesn't seem to like her any more than the real world did.
And as her old life starts to fall apart, the question is: will Harriet be able to transform herself before she ruins everything?

Book Review:
I saw the cover of this book, and just knew this would be an adorable read. Luckily, I was correct in my guestimation. The main character, Harriet, was very relatable to me. I grew up as a geek, and well...things haven't changed much! I still wear glasses, read a lot, and find odd things fascinating. I could totally understand Harriet's struggle to find her place in the world. Heck, had I been her age and been offered a modeling job, I would have taken it too! Watching Harriet struggle and eventually become comfortable in her own skin was hilarious, intriguing, and easy to relate to. Supporting character Toby was downright hilarious! I didn't quite feel the connection to Harriet's best friend Nat, but perhaps that will be fleshed out in the next book. If you're looking for a fun, quirky read with some geeky flair, look no further!

Cover Art Commentary:
On Goodreads, it looks like there are several different covers, but this is the cover of my copy. Isn't it adorable?! I absolutely LOVE the glasses and the colors! It catches the eye...you want to know more!
